Salamiah Hassan is a legendary singer who made her name on the Malaysian Pop Scene in the 70s -- in the transition from Pop Yeh Yeh to the more modern 70s Pop era. Miss Hassan met me for an interview backstage at her rehearsal tonight in Petaling Jaya. She's doing several shows in this month, and from what I heard of her rehearsal this evening, her voice is still as sweet and beautiful as it was 30 years ago. In person, she was radiant, charming, and incredibly honest and sincere. What an honor to meet the one and only Salamiah Hassan!
I brought a 45 with me that I just bought during my trip here, and she was thrilled to see it after all these years. Of course I asked her to sign it too.
